1 John 4:17-19 (only my favorite passage in the Bible…)

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us.

Psalm 115

1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.

God can heal a broken heart, but He has to have all the pieces.

Joshua De Gracia

Day by day, hour after hour we go on living our lives to only get caught up in the busyness of life and forget the importance of being thankful for the blessings God has given us.  Our fast paced lives overshadow the importance of the blessings we have. Instead of looking at what we have in front of us, we stay focused on the pursuit of getting the next thing that will fulfill our human “immediate gratification” desire.

Well, if this is you, then I have one thing to say (especially during this week of Thanksgiving): Stop and smell the roses. Take time to take a step back from life and appreciate the little and big blessings you have in your life. If you are always in a rush, you will not enjoy life’s little pleasures because you are too focused on what’s ahead and not living to appreciate the now.

Everything we have is a blessing from God (no matter on its size or value) and we must be grateful for it. Instead of acting like kids at Christmas where they see a present, want to open it and once they do, aren’t appreciative of it anymore and throw it on the side, let’s really savor the blessings in our lives.

Take some time to thank God for your family, health, life, job, schooling, etc. Be thankful to Him because His love and His promises are forever.

Psalm 106:1

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; His love endures forever.”

I know for many, you may be bitter towards this Thanksgiving season. I’m sure that some of you reading this may have recently lost your job and/or are in financial turmoil in the midst of the economy. This is my encouragement to you. It says in the Bible that whoever can be trusted with little, can also be trusted with much. This may not mean a lot to you, but God wants to see  how you handle things in the good times and the bad. He will never give you more than you can’t handle and really press on toward God and have faith that He will deliver you with that job, that next mortgage payment, the next check to live life off.

Remember God will never leave you nor forsake you. It shouldn’t only be during Thanksgiving where we give thanks for what we have, instead take time to give thanks and praise our heavenly creator for your abundant blessings on a normal basis. If you think you don’t have anything worth recognizing, look around at different areas in your life. Be thankful for the air you breathe, family, friends, being able to live another day and a whole lot more.

God is your matchmaker..Joshua De Gracia

http://knowgodknowlove.com/

We like to think of ourselves as always being in control. If we wanna get this girl’s number, we’ll go get. If we wanna have sex with someone we just met, we’ll try to achieve it to the best of our ability. It’s all about what makes “me” happy and how soon can I get “it” right?  As men, we hunt and try to find that special someone. Trouble is, we are looking in all the wrong places.

Take a second and ask yourself, “where do I go looking for love?”—- Bars, parties, clubs, the gym, strip clubs?

Besides the half naked attractive people, are you really hoping to find that special person at those places? Well, you might be saying “special for my hormones and for the flesh,” but it is filling and satisfying  for your spirit?

The truth: God doesn’t want you to actively pursue, but He’ll bring that person to you on His timing.

Genesis 2:21-22

So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.”

If you feel like you are the only person on this earth than can’t find a mate, let me tell you that God has someone for everyone. He looked at Adam sleeping in the garden and saw that he needed someone to accompany him and gave him Eve. Man was not hunting and looking for girls when God blessed him. No, the Bible says man was in a deep sleep.

Now you must be asking, “so you want me to go to sleep and when I wake up, Megan Fox will appear?” No. This “sleep” time is our preparation prior to being ready for that person. This is the time that God wants to work in us and to do His will. During this preparation time, we need to work on character flaws, junk that’s in our heart and rid ourselves of the baggage that act as strongholds in our lives. It’s better to get rid of all the toxins in your life than take it into your next relationship.

Rather than you be in control and searching for love in all the wrong places, sow into Godly character, pull the weeds out of your life and allow God to be your matchmaker.

Abandon all I am, to have you capture me yet again..
Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Psalm 139:23
“ Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”

Abandon all I am, to have you capture me again. No matter where we are with our walk with God, sometimes we need to come to a state of brokenness. In that state, there is no better place to be than in the Father’s will. In His perfect, pleasing will.

How do you get there? By dying to yourself and reaching out to Him with all of your heart.
